Lash Extension Training: Which Course Should You Choose?

Getting started, perfecting your skills, or keeping up with the Korean Lamination trend? The guide to choosing the right lash training course this back-to-school season. Training programs and expert advice from Browlash-Store.

The new season is the moment to pick your good habits back up... and to decide to level up your skills. Whether you want to enter the profession, make your technique more reliable or add a trending service to your menu, a well-chosen training makes all the difference. Here is what you need to see clearly and find the path that suits you.

Why train (or retrain) after summer

After summer, calendars fill up again and clients come back with new wishes. It is a good time to invest in yourself: a new technique mastered means an extra service to offer, a higher average basket, and clients who stay because they find everything in one place. Training is not a cost, it is an investment in the quality of your work and in your clients' safety.

Starting out: the base extensions and Russian volume course

If you are starting from scratch, the base lash, extensions and Russian volume course is the foundation of the trade. You learn the essentials to work independently and safely: hygiene and disinfection in the treatment room, the anatomy and life cycle of the lash, preparation and isolation, classic one-by-one application then an introduction to Russian volume, managing the glue according to the environment, and the aftercare instructions to pass on to the client.

For whom: complete beginners as well as beauticians who want to add the service. No prior lash experience is required.

Good to know: the price is 950 € incl. VAT, with the option to book via a deposit. The practical details (duration, starter kit, materials provided, number of models) are set out on the course page.

Going further: the perfection course

You already apply lashes but you would like to gain speed, retention or consistency? The lash extension perfection course starts from your current practice to correct what is holding you back: mapping, isolation, glue choice and management, symmetry, speed. It is often the step that takes you from correct work to clean, lasting work, the kind that builds loyalty.

For whom: already-trained technicians who want to improve, speed up or modernise their technique. The prerequisites and detailed content are on the course page.

Riding the trend: Korean Lamination

Korean Lamination is the technique on the rise. The idea: a lift using the Korean method that gives a very natural, combed effect, with an open eye without extensions. More and more clients are asking for it, which makes it a great opportunity to broaden your menu. Several paths exist depending on your level and your goals:

The details of each path (duration, content, kit and prerequisites) are available on its dedicated page, so you can choose with full knowledge.

In person or online: how to choose

In-person training is irreplaceable for acquiring the gesture: practice on a model, real-time correction, the feel of the material. It is the recommended route for a first technique. Online training, on the other hand, is ideal for revising, discovering a method or training at your own pace when travelling is complicated. Many professionals combine both: in-person for the foundation, online to complete and stay up to date.

Professional training for lash treatments

What a good training should include

Before you commit, check that the training offers real practice on a model, an experienced trainer active in the trade, a starter kit or a clear list of materials, course notes, a certificate at the end and, ideally, follow-up after the training. Be wary of very short and very cheap courses: in this trade, the quality of the training shows directly in the result and in your clients' safety.

Pro tip: after a training, practise intensively in the two weeks that follow, while the gesture is still fresh. That is when the technique really sinks in.

FAQ

Do you need a beauty diploma to practise lash extensions and lamination?

It depends on the country and, in Belgium, on the region.

In Belgium: in Flanders, the establishment law has been abolished since 2018. You no longer need to prove professional competence to set up as a beautician, lash application and lamination included. In Wallonia and Brussels, however, access to the beauty profession is still required when registering with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises: you prove it with a diploma, validated experience or by passing the Central Examination Board exam. You also need basic business management knowledge to set up as self-employed.

In France: no state diploma is legally required for lash extensions alone, it is not an act reserved to the CAP. However, as soon as you offer other regulated treatments (hair removal, facials), the CAP esthétique becomes necessary. Serious training remains strongly recommended.

In all cases, solid training is not just a matter of rules: it is what guarantees your clients' safety and the quality of your results. As regulations can change, check your specific situation with your business counter (Belgium) or the Chamber of Trades and Crafts (France).

Do you already need to know how to apply lashes to take the base course?

No. The base course is designed for complete beginners as well as beauticians discovering lashes. What matters is motivation and regular practice after the training.

Is Korean Lamination right for me?

If your clients are looking for a natural effect and an enhanced eye without extensions, yes. It is a trending service that pairs well with an existing lash menu and lets you stand out with a premium treatment.

In summary

Start with the base course, make your technique reliable with the perfection course, or ride the trend with Korean Lamination: each goal has its path. After summer is the right time to take the plunge and turn a new skill into new services.
